The event was created to develop tourism in South Nias and to increase the number of tourists visiting in South Nias. And the Government will also hold a contest entitled "Nias Selatan Open Surfing Contest or NSOSC 2017 and will also hold Festival Festival Festival event, Culture , And Tradition.

This contest is held by the government that has cooperated with the Department of Culture, Youth and Sports in South Nias District and has been supported by the Ministry of Tourism. In this surfing contest will be divided again into 3 namely:
1.Man Division (Men over the age of 16 years)
2.Woman Division
3.Grommet (Men and Women)
